Sonic XF Episode 224: “An Island Without Doctors!? Adventure in a Nameless Island!”

Last time on Sonic XF, after Nami falling terribly ill, our heroes search for an island in hopes of finding a doctor to properly treat her infection. Soon enough, they find an island, filled with snow and mountains. However, they receive a warning rather than a welcome from the locals of the island, armed with guns. One of the armed men fired a warning shot and in panic fired another one at Vivi.

Vivi falls over after getting shot.

Amy and Cream: ….!!!

Justin, Tails, Chris, and Steve: …!!!

Knuckles, Mark, and Ryu: ….!!!

Cory: ….!!!

Sean and Andy: !!!

Sonic: !!!

Kyo: !!!!....VIVI-SAN!!!!!

Villagers: !!!!

Villager 5: !!!!

Kyo (rushes to Vivi): VIVI-SAN!

Sonic: …..,WHY YOU….!!!

The villagers aim at our heroes. Our heroes prepare to defend themselves. Kyo has Vivi in his arms.

Kyo: ….!

Vivi: ….

Sonic: HMPH!

Vivi: NO! STOP IT!!!

Sonic Team: !!?!

Vivi: Fighting is not going to help anything!!! I’m fine, everyone! It only grazed my arm!

Kyo: …..!

Vivi is down on her knees.

Vivi: It’s all right, we won’t land. **lowers her head** But please call us a doctor! Our friend is dying from a serious illness! I’m begging you! Please help us!

Sonic: Vivi…!

Vivi: You won’t be a true captain with just violence…

Vivi’s wound from her arm drips with blood.

Sonic: ….

Vivi: We can’t get into a fight here. Think about Nami, what would happen to her?

Meanwhile, Karoo is on watch for Nami as she continues to fight hard against the infection.

Nami (feverish): ……!

Sonic: …You’re right… I’m sorry about that. **kneels and lowers his head** Please help us, call a doctor!

Sonic Team: …

Squad Leader: …..

Then….

Squad Leader: I’ll show you to our village.

Sonic and Vivi: ….!?

Squad Leader: Follow me. **walks away**

Vivi (relieved): …!

Kyo: …!

The villagers soon follow their leader.

Vivi: See? Just ask politely.

Sonic: You sure got some guts, Vivi. You’re incredible.

Vivi (happily grins): Hmhm!

Sonic Team (relieved): ….

Kyo (smiles): …!

Later, Sonic leads everyone except for Sean and Karoo, who are watching the ship. Nami is carried on Knuckles’ back. Our heroes follow the Squad Leader and the villagers through the snowy hills. Almost everyone is wearing winter attire.

Squad Leader: There is one thing I must warn you about. The only doctor on this island, is a witch.

Steve: A witch?

Cory: You gotta be kidding me. Everything about this island is messed, what is this place anyway?

Squad Leader: ….Actually…this land still doesn't have a name.

Vivi: An island without a name? I didn’t know that was possible.

Squad Leader: …….

Steve: WAH!! A bear!!

A giant bear walks beside their path.

Squad Leader: Don’t worry, it’s a hiking bear. They’re harmless. Just don’t forget to bow. It’s proper manners.

They all bow to the giant bear. Meanwhile, back on the ship….

Sean: All those times…those times I couldn’t sense those two. Mr. 3….and Ms. All-Sunday. **grins** Hm…Just thought of an idea.

Sean strips his upper clothing…

Karoo (comically shocked): ……!!!

Sean: Perhaps some ice water swimming can clear up my mind.

We now see the village…

Squad Leader: This is our village, Big Horn.

Andy: Whoa, look at all the weird animals walking around!

Steve: Well, yeah. This is snow country.

Knuckles: We made it, Nami. We’re finally in a village with people.

Squad Leader (to the villagers): Thanks for the help, everyone. If you’re not a guard, you can return to your work.

Villager 1: Are you certain that you’re okay by yourself?

Squad Leader: I don’t think these kids are pirates. They mean no harm. Hm, that’s my hunch anyway.

Villagers: ….!

Squad Leader: You can trust me on that.

The Villagers talk it over and leave their captain.

Villager 2: Be careful, Dalton. Let us know if something happens.

Dalton: …

Vivi: Are those your security forces?

Dalton: No, ordinary people. Come to my house for now.

Mark: Hey, look! It’s one of those hiking bears!

Andy: We gotta bow!

Andy and Mark bow, mistaking a large lady for a Hiking Bear.

Andy and Mark: …..

Steve: Uh, guys…

Large Lady: Hello, Dalton. I heard some pirates landed on the island, I hope everything’s all right.

Dalton: Yes, everything is fine. There’s nothing to be worried about.

Villager 3: Hey, Dalton! Just wanted you to know. I’m looking forward to the election in 2 days! Everyone I’ve talked to said they’re going to vote for you!

Vivi: …!

Dalton (humble): I’m sure you’re not seriously about that. I’m just an ordinary citizen. That’s all.

Vivi: ….

Kyo: Seems that everyone loves him.

Vivi: Yeah….

Later, in Dalton’s home…

Dalton: You can use that bed over there. I’m going to warm the place up.

Nami is put into bed by Knuckles. Everyone else checks out the place.  

Dalton: I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Dalton, I’m the captain of the island’s security squad. Please forgive our…less-than-friendly welcome.

**DOOM!!! [Dalton; Security Squad Captain]**

Dalton: Excuse me, but may I ask you a question?

Vivi: Huh?

Dalton: It’s…just that you look familiar to me for some reason.

Vivi: Ah, no...! I-I just have one of those faces I guess. Anyway… can you tell us more about this doctor, o-or witch if that’s what she is? Nami’s fever has gone up to 107.

Dalton: !!...How long has she had it?

Kyo: It’s been several days, it just keeps climbing up.

Dalton: I see. She’ll likely die if it gets any worse.

Vivi: Yes. But we have no idea what the illness is, much less how to treat it. We don’t know how to help her.

Cory: We’ve got to find a doctor as soon as possible! Any doctor will do! Where is this witch of your’s!?

Dalton: The witch? You see those mountains outside the window?

Cory: Yeah.

**DERP!!!**

Sonic, Andy, Mark, and Justin are playing around in the snow. Having to build snowmen right by the window.

Sonic: Here’s the super snowman!!

Andy: And here’s the bearded snow dragon!!

Cory (comically mad): Would ya get in here before I kick your asses!?!

Later…

Dalton: Those mountains are known as the Drum Rockies. Look closely…Do you see the castle on top of the tallest one, the middle mountain?

Chris: Castle?

Dalton: That castle has lost its king.

Cory: Yeah. I see it.

Vivi: What’s so important about the castle?

Dalton: That castle is where only the one doctor of this island lives, Dr. Kureha. She the one who people call, the witch.

Knuckles: Of all places, she had to live on top of the tallest mountain?? We need to call her right now. Nami needs her help!  

Dalton: I’m sorry. But I’m afraid there’s no way to contact her.

Knuckles: What?? You can’t be serious! What kind of a doctor is she!?

Dalton: Her skills as a doctor are quite impressive actually. However…She’s an eccentric, old woman. She’s nearly 140 years old now.

Sonic Team: ….!

Steve: 140??

Cory: No wonder she doesn’t get around much.

Dalton: Oh, and one more thing. She likes pickled plums.

Amy: What happens when people get sick or injured? Doesn’t she help them?

Dalton: She comes down from the mountains whenever she feels like it. She looks around for patience. She treats them, and…before she leaves, she takes whatever she wants from their houses as payment.

Mark: She doesn’t sound like a very nice lady.

Andy: Kinda sounds like she’s a pirate.

Vivi: How is a woman as old as she is capable of getting down from that mountain??

Dalton: It’s an odd rumor around here….But I heard from several villagers that they’ve seen her riding down on a sleigh of some kind in the night sky. They see her silhouette when the moon is out. It’s the reason she’s thought to be a witch. There are others who claim she has a strange creature with her while she’s walking around. A creature none of them recognize.

Steve: The former has to be false. That’s something from fairy tale I’m sure of it!

Dalton: Dr. Kureha’s the only doctor this island’s got. But she’s still woman that I would stay away from. All we can do is wait and hope that she does come down from the mountain.

Vivi: Really…??

Knuckles: No damn it…We can’t wait here for that long. Nami is getting worse as we speak.

Sonic: Hey, Nami? Nami, wake up! **slaps a bit**

Knuckles, Vivi, and Cory (comically mad): WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HER, SONIC!!?!

Nami: …..???

Sonic: Hey, she’s awake!

Nami: Ah….?

Sonic: Here’s the sitch, the only way to get to a doctor is to climb a tall mountain. We’re gonna have to do that.

Nami: ….?

Cory: Wait, are you crazy!?! What about Nami?? How do you expect to get her up!?!

Sonic: Easily, she can ride on my back.

Vivi: That’s only going to make her even more sick!

Sonic: What? I thought we needed to hurry. Being fast is my thing!

Vivi: Look at how steep and tall that thing is!

Cory: Climbing that mountain will be way too hard on Nami!!  

Sonic: And waiting here is an option?

Nami: …..! I need to…get over this thing…..!

Sonic Team: …..!?!

Nami: ....We need to hurry…! For Vivi….! Come on, Captain…! **raises her hand** Let’s go….!

Sonic Team: !!!

Dalton: ….!

Sonic: Heheh!

Sonic grips her hand.

Sonic: That’s what I’m talking about! Leave it to me.  

Knuckles: ….Wait.

Sonic and Nami: ???

Cory: Knuckles?

Knuckles: If you’re gonna climb a mountain, then leave it to me!

Sonic: Oh?

Vivi: You too!? It’s way too dangerous!

Knuckles: I’ve been through a lot of climbing. This one will just be another session.

Sonic: Heheh. You can come along, Knuckles.

Later, outside….

Steve: I can’t believe this… our navigator is as crazy as Sonic and Knuckles.

Cory: You know you’re in no shape for a trip like this, Nami.

Amy: Are you sure she’ll be okay? It’ll take you hours to get there!

We see Nami carried by Knuckles.

Steve: Listen, Knuckles. You have to be careful, you can’t fall even once for Nami! Even though she’s a Mobian, she can still be frail in these conditions in her current state.

Knuckles: Yeah. I got it.

Vivi: Hold still for a second….

Vivi ties Nami up to Knuckles with some clothing.

Vivi: I need to make sure this is tight.

After tightening…

Vivi: Okay…You’re all set.

Andy: I want to help too, but I think I’ll only get in the way. You guys can resist the cold better than us Sirians here.

Cory: We’ll only get in the way. We can’t risk too many people for this journey.

Sonic: We got this, don’t you worry. I’ll be the one to cover Knuckles.

Knuckles: Just hold on tight to me, Nami. Okay?

Nami: Uh..huh…!

Sonic Team: ….

Cory: Man, Knuckles is sure lucky. I mean, it does makes sense as to…

Knuckles (comically blushing): IT’S NOTHING LIKE THAT!!!

Dalton: I guess you’re set on going. I’m not going to stop you but I will ask to at least climb the mountain from the other side. That way, you can avoid the Lapahns that are on this side.

Sonic Team: …!

Dalton: They are fierce carnivorous rabbits. You run into a pack of them, you’re good as dead.

Sonic Team: !!

Knuckles: Really? We’ve gotta get up there. We’ll be just fine. Right?

Sonic: Right. Let’s go.

Dalton: You can’t be serious! You know how easily they can tear you two apart!?!

Sonic: Nah, we’ll be all right. Let’s go, Knuckles! Hurry it up! **runs off**

Knuckles (moving): Hey! Hold on! I’m carrying Nami here!!

Sonic: Heheheh!

Sonic and Knuckles, with Nami, are off.

Dalton: Will they be all right?

Steve: Well, it isn’t those two we’re particularly worried about…

Amy: Nami is the one in trouble. I don’t know how long her strength can hold out. She’s getting sicker by the minute.

Sonic Team: ….

Dalton is about to go inside but…

Dalton: Hm? Why are you standing here? Come on in. It’s cold out here.

Amy: I’ll stay right here.

Vivi: So am I.

Andy: Hah, think we all are.

Sonic Team: ….

Dalton: ….!

Sonic Team stare out in the cold horizon…

Dalton: ….**grins** Hm….I see.

Dalton joins them, sitting down in the snow.

Dalton: ….

Sonic Team: ??

Dalton: Well, in that case, allow me to join you.

Sonic Team: …! **grins**….

Our heroes and Dalton stare out to the tallest mountain.

Dalton: …

Sonic Team: ….

Dalton: You know we did have some doctors here on the island.  

Sonic Team: ?

Dalton: However, all of them left sometime ago for some reason. They were very good at their craft. We were even well-known for the advanced medicine and practice on this island.

Vivi: So…what went wrong?

Dalton: ….A few months ago…We suffered a vicious attack, and our country was destroyed….destroyed by pirates.

**DOOOM…!**

Sonic Team: !!!

Andy: Oh man…! The whole country!?

Tails: So that’s the reason you all acted that way when we showed up.

Justin: It all makes sense now.

Dalton: Yes. After the attack, the word “pirates” frightens everyone on this island. I’m sorry about the way we treated you.

We see some of the scars of the town left by the pirates.

Dalton: Their group was small as well. Only five people. Their captain called himself, Blackbeard.

**DOOM!!!**

We see five silhouetted figures as Dalton narrates…

Dalton (narrating): Their power was so incredible, they destroyed our country faster than you would believe.

Vivi: Only there were only the five of them!? That’s impossible!

Andy: Blackbeard…!

Dalton: For some…they say it was actually good for the country.

Vivi: What could it be possibly good about that happening!?

Steve: Who on Siria would say something like that!?

Dalton: Hm…..Thank you.

Sonic Team: !

Dalton: I agree. But they have their reasons…The king who ruled here before the attack was a horrible man. His rule was despised by all citizens. Our country was use to be known as, Drum Kingdom..and our king, was Wapol. He was the worst king imaginable.

Sonic Team: !!!

They recall encountering Wapol…

Vivi: Yes… I know that man…!

Tails: Not Wapol….! That’s him…!?!

Meanwhile, Sonic and Knuckles are far out, heading towards the mountain.

Sonic: Looks like the winds are picking up.

Knuckles: Well we better pick our legs and pick up the pace then.

Sonic: So tell me, Knuckles….

Knuckles: Hm?

Sonic: What do you think of Nami?

Knuckles (blushing): Wait what!?

Meanwhile, we see a vicious rabbit stalking on Sonic and Knuckles.

Sonic: Come on, Knuckles. We all know you have a thing for her. I just wanna know what do you exactly think of her?

It appears to be a lapahn, leaping out with his sharp teeth and claws. The two casually duck and it misses. It then chases them again.

Knuckles (blushing): I’m not telling you!! Besides she’s right here!

Sonic: Oh, she’s asleep! Come on, it’s only the two of us, pretty much. You can tell me!

The lapahn leaps once more but misses again, biting the tree instead. It completely crushes the trunk, which falls towards Sonic and Knuckles. They casually leap over the tree.

Knuckles: Oh yeah, like I would, Sonic!

Sonic: Do you like her or not? I mean I think she likes you.

Knuckles: W-what makes you think that, huh!?

The vicious rabbits keeps attacking but Sonic and Knuckles seem to be laidback about it and they continue to dodge while talking.

Sonic: Well, Nami did kiss you some time ago, didn’t she?

Knuckles (blushes): Th-I’m sure that was just out of gratitude it’s like a hug, you know??

Sonic: Ohh really?? Even a hug can be a sign of romantic interest sometimes, they wanna get close to you, Knuckles. Nami definitely took a step further. You already have a connection with her in some way, especially with that situation with Arlong and all.

Knuckles: S-so what!? It was just coincidence. It’s completely nothing!

Sonic: Man, you’re just stubborn, aren’t you? Hate to be wrong as usual.

Knuckles: Give me a break! You’re the one to talk!

Lapahn: YAAAAH!!!!

Knuckles: YOU’RE A PAIN IN MY ASS!!!

**WHAM!!!**

Knuckles punches the rabbit away, sending it flying.

Sonic: Really, what was with that thing?

Later, we find them closer….

Knuckles: Nami, just hang in there a bit longer, we’re gonna get you to that doctor, alright?

Sonic: The snow’s getting deeper.

Then, the two stop running as something’s in their path.

Sonic and Knuckles: Huh…?

**DOOM!!!**

We find a whole pack of Lapahns, ones much larger than Sirians. The little one Knuckles punched is sitting on the shoulder of the alpha male.

Knuckles: The hell are these things?

Sonic: Wait a sec…Are these the Lapahns that the old man was talking about?

Back with Tails and the others….

Dalton: Wait, you mean you know who Wapol is?

Tails: Know who he is? We know more than that. He’s the pirate who attacked our ship not to long ago.

Andy: But WE showed them up! Our leader, Sonic was able to take care of him.

Dalton: …!!

Justin: Come to think of it, do you guys remember him saying that he was heading to Drum Kingdom?

Vivi: Yes, there’s no question about it now. I remember it clearly. I met him once during a monarch meeting with my father when I was younger. But I remember it to this day.

Dalton: Hm? A monarch meeting?

Vivi: !!

Dalton: Who are you?

Vivi: Oh n-no! I-I…The point is, we know Wapol! We ran into him yesterday when we were on our way here.

Dalton: Yesterday? Are you certain?

Steve: I don’t understand…he said he was a pirate and nothing else. He mentioned nothing about being a King.

Dalton: He’s calling himself a pirate under a disguise. In truth, he’s just only wandering the seas, trying to desperately return to this island.

Tails: So then…Wapol and the people who were on his ship were kicked off the island because they were no match for the pirates? Is that what happened?

Dalton: That’s not it….no…!

Sonic Team: ….!

Dalton: When it happened….when we were under attack…Wapol’s army didn’t even try to fight!

Vivi: !!

Dalton: In fact, the second he learned how strong these pirates were, Wapol grabbed his cronies and ran like cowards! He was the first one to abandon his country and flee for his own out to see!!

Vivi is trembling with anger.

Vivi: ….!

Dalton: After that…the country fell to utter despair. We were left behind by our king!

Vivi: What sort of king would do that to his country!?!

Sonic Team: !?!

Vivi: A king abandoning his people!? Just the thought of that makes me absolutely sick!

Kyo: Vivi-san…

Dalton: You’re exactly right. The one good thing that came out of it though was the end of Wapol’s tyrannical rule. The people who were left on this island have come together now. We’re trying to create a new country. So what we fear most now, is the return of Wapol and his followers. The return of his terrible rule. We cannot afford to have him come back now, this country is unstable. It would be the end of us. We want to build ourselves a new peaceful nation on this island.

Back with Sonic and Knuckles, they are facing a whole pack of the fierce Lapahns. The Alpha Male leaps down towards them.

Sonic: Look out!!

Alpha Male: RAAHH!!!

They dodge the downward assault.

Sonic: How can it move like that?

Knuckles: They’re sure a lot of them.

Now, we find Wapol and his crew somewhere in the seas.

Chess: Wapol! Come quick, Sir!

Chess is in the lookout post.

Wapol: What is it!? Have you found that ship yet!?!

Chess: No that isn’t it. We have at long last have found our home!

Wapol: We have!?!

Chess: How many long months we passed, Wapol!? That’s our homeland!!

Wapol: …! **snickers**

Chess: It’s Drum Kingdom!!!

His men cheer…

Wapol: It’s true! I can’t believe it!! Maaahahahahaha!!!

Our heroes and Dalton are distress about the possibility of Wapol’s return.

Sonic Team: ….!

Dalton: …..
